Julie Ortegon is a Colombian-American artist, poet, and Resource Manager who lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. She received her BS in Arts Management from Northern Arizona University, and did postgraduate MFA work focusing on the intersection of art and technology at the City College of New York CUNY in NYC. She grew up in Bogota Colombia, Gurnee, IL and Tempe, AZ. She was awarded grants to study painting and art in Siena, Italy through The Siena School for Liberal Arts, and in Montpellier, France at Paul Valery University.
Spending formative years in a punk scene in Arizona, informs her use of sharing images by way of zines and paper poster form display. Her visual language is often decoded in color, texture and mark-making.
